I’ll start this post off by saying if you haven’t played or even heard of PlayersUnknown Battlegrounds, what have you been doing for the past eight months?! STOP READING THIS AND GO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF RIGHT NOW, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
Ahem, so, back to my PUBG addition. This game is stupidly fun, developed by the same guy who created battlegrounds for the DayZ Arma 2 Mod as well as the somewhat disappointing H1Z1 (The battle royal game mode is the only thing that saved that game.) which he then FINALLY decided he would go out on his own and create his very own battle royal focused game, I just can’t wrap my head around why he didn’t do it sooner, anyway thankfully he did because it’s absolutely brilliant. Solo or with friends, I can’t fault how good the experience is playing this game.
Solo will get your adrenaline pumping if you’re anything like me, the sound of footsteps passing the building you’re in whilst you’re quickly trying to find a weapon to defend yourself just adds to the tension. You become a victim to your own thoughts as you just panic whilst you sit in silence trying to hear what’s going on, on the rest of the battlefield becoming aware of any small sound, whether it be a bullet you heard in the distance or a set of footsteps behind you. Taking part in a solo game is amazing but getting to the top 10 is even better. The way the game works is that the ‘battle circle’ gets smaller and smaller to force you and the other 99 players closer together until leaving one man (or girl!) standing, the smaller the radius of the circle the more intense the game becomes. Now, I am not the greatest player but winning one of these games feels amazing, knowing that out of the other 99 players you were victorious and even then you just want to queue up again and have another go.
Some would say, playing with friends is where the real enjoyment lies with this game and that’s true if you enjoy trolling your friends and have a laugh doing some silly stuff, perfect after a stressful day. It can get really tense at times once you realize you’re one of the few teams left and you have a real chance of winning. Maybe I’m a little competitive so I do like to take it seriously most of the time and get a little salty if my teammates aren’t playing properly but I usually wander off and try to win solo, which has happened before, surprisingly (it feels even better than solo carrying your team against other teams than it does in the solo game mode).
I was just doing some extra research on PUBG as I’m writing this post and they have just hit an insane milestone for the game.
“Over the weekend, PUBG reached 1,523,179 concurrent players on Steam. This is a new all-time peak for the game, which only recently beat Dota 2’s 1.2 million.”

Their momentum has been crazy since its release and I don’t think it can be stopped at the moment, no game can compete with how enjoyable it is, especially for its price tag. Anyway, time to wrap this post up, I’m totally not booting up the game as we speak because I need to feed my addiction, nono.
So, would I recommend this game?
Like I said previously, I am not a great player, unlike people such as C9 Shroud, TSM BreaK etc. (which you should totally go and watch!) but I still get A LOT of enjoyment out of playing and I couldn’t recommend this any more than I already do now, you’re really going to have to do yourself a favour and try it out for yourself, after all, there are worse things you could be addicted too…
