Acai Berry Derivatives
Posted under Acai Berry by leeAcai berry comes from the Acai palm which can be found in Central and South America, particularly in Belize, Brazil, and Peru. The tree grows more than fifteen to thirty meters and the fruit can be harvested twice a year. The fruit averages about an inch in diameter and is round and black, purple or green depending on the maturity and ripeness of the fruit.
In Brazil, Acai berry is served in gourds with tapioca or served cold in bowls mixed with granola. It is also used as an ice cream flavor and in alcoholic drinks such as tequila and vodka. Because of its current popularity, the market has spawned a wide variety of Acai berry food products. There are now Acai berry smoothies, teas, tablets, powdered drinks, and concentrate juice.
Acai berry is not only limited to food products. Emerging in the market are beauty products which contain Acai berry ingredients. There are Acai berry soap, oils, creams, shampoos and conditioner, body scrubs, and astringent.
Acai berry seeds are grounded and then used as food for livestock or organic fertilizers. The stem of the Acai palm is also often used in salads, while its leaves can be made into a number of items like hats, baskets, mats, and brooms.
